Access

Guaranteed admission for community college students who have:

• Associate degree or 30+ credits.

• GPA ≥ 2.5.

• West Virginia residency.

• Apply for admission prior to June 1.

Guaranteed admission for high school graduates who have:

• GPA ≥ 2.5.

• West Virginia residency.

• Apply for admission prior to June 1.

In-coming first-time Regents Bachelor of Arts students receive first semester at no cost (tuition and fees only) if they meet the following:

• West Virginia residency.

• At least four years out of high school.

• Not currently enrolled and/or have been enrolled at WVSU within the past 36 months. 

Affordability

Make WVSU one of the most affordable and accessible four-year institutions in West Virginia.

Free for Eight

• Tuition assistance program that covers the cost of tuition, fees, and approved academic program fees for eligible West Virginia resident students.

• The program is a “last dollar in” program, meaning it covers any remaining costs after other financial aid is applied.

Career Readiness

Designed for all first-time, full-time, degree seeking, freshmen beginning with the class of 2029.

The university pledges additional education/professional development to graduates if unemployed 12 months after graduation.

Dual Credit Scholarship 

Dual Credit (DC) high school graduates starting in the Summer of 2025 from a West Virginia high school who have completed at least 9 credit hours of Dual Credit courses with a 2.50 or above GPA, enroll as a full-time, degree seeking undergraduate student would be eligible to receive a 6 credit hour Dual Credit Scholarship (3 hours in Fall & Spring semester for a maximum of 8 consecutive semesters).   Dual Credit high school graduates who have completed less than 9 credit hours of Dual Credit courses with a high school GPA of less than 2.50 but above 2.00 who enroll as a full-time, degree seeking undergraduate student would be eligible to receive $1,000 Dual Credit Scholarship ($500 for the Fall & Spring semester) for a maximum of eight consecutive semesters.
